Kundalini (Nicole Grace): Meditation and Mysticism

Kundalini appears to be a 30-something energetic lady who doubles as a stand-up comedian and spiritual teacher. (www.likeswans.com)
Her routine, which I just saw two nights in a row, has been meticulously copied by "Gyan" (Meetup group "Contemporary Enlightenment") who suggested I see her.
There are the 5 minute soft rock music/meditations, animated talks, interspersed with brief Q&As about energies, chakras, and things like headaches during meditations. The second night, overcoming an odd feeling of resistance from her presence, I shared my story about the members of Bay Area Self-Inquiry group prompting me into 3 levels of deepening contemplations about suffering, to the point of breaking the chain of causation when considering the answer to "why are you here?"
I wish I could have studied her face more closely...it seemed to go through everything from inspiration to bewilderment. She gave a meandering reply, tossing off words like "learning experience," "in a bubble," "full of oneself." Nothing in the way of taking it deeper or even being a clear mirror.
But then there were no other people there to challenge her or give her a chance to go deeper, except my friend John, who I luckily met recently. He caught on to her motif about energy, and dialogued on that. He resonated better than I. My wife didn't get much out of it.
People are in their comfort zone there. Garett (Gyan) sat in bliss, and the few who spoke up had bits about chakras and meditations.
I emailed Garett afterwards - here it is, with his response:

Hi Garett,
We did hang out a few minutes last night, but seemed you were in the moment of bliss, so we decided to leave.
Kundalini is an intriguing teacher, who likes to keep people in their comfort zones, as so many of them do.
My own teacher Shantimayi (we just keep in touch by emails) says "I am not a people-pleaser." She's a master at breaking down delusional thinking.
It has been said that awakening to the truth requires getting out of the comfort zone, and in fact going through a lot of discomfort!
But then, many people are glad to stay comfortable and don't have a serious desire to awaken.
It's all about having clarity about where we want our spiritual journeys to take us. I think it's great if you have such clarity, and that the comfort zone is were you wish to be.
For me, I'v spent years navigating through disatisfaction and delusion to reach a state of contentment and a mraculous adventure unfolding, and knowing it will never end!
Trust me, it's worth getting out of your comfort zone, if you ever decide you really want to awaken:)
 Love and light,
Joel
ps - it's also very freeing to reach a point where there is no fear of discomfort when it arises:)

Hello Joel,
It was good to see you and John and your contributions last night. :)
While I don't fully agree with your assessment of Kundalini keeping people in their comfort zone, I totally agree with you that real awakening occurs only when you've gone beyond it!
I suppose it's the Teacher's' job to assess when and how to apply such pressure so it seems we're both blessed to have found Teachers that work for us.
As Kundalini said last night, clearly your path is working for you -- which I could see as well -- and it's great to see fellow travelers in our journey towards Light!
Until our paths cross again I wish you Love and Light as well...
Sincerely,
Garett
